Bonfires for Christ

"God doesn't want us to be mere campfires; He wants us to be bonfires, raging infernos for Him." -Mark Cahill

Burn brighter, dear Christian! Don't think for a moment that your light has reached its limit. Do you know who the light within you is? Jesus said that He is the light! Do you realize there is no limit to His power?

Fear is one great hindrance to His power in our lives, and often we don't know how to stop the inevitable flow of fear... But "God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (2 Tim. 1:7)

First John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."

What love is that talking about? "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us,  and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1 John 4:9-10)

We are made children of God by this great sacrifice on the cross! Our love is made perfect when we dwell in the love of God, which was manifested at the cross. More specifically -resting all the rest of our live in Jesus Christ, the One who exchanged our sin for His righteousness. In this true, real love, there is no room for fear, because He fearlessly made the greatest sacrifice of all time so that we could be justified freely before God!

When we dwell in that love, our love is perfected, and we become like Christ, living like Him in this world. There is no condemnation in that place- thus, no need to fear!

"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.... We love Him, because He first loved us." (1 John 4:16-17, 19)

Dwell in that love! Let Him pour His life through you, dear Christian! What better way to be a "bonfire" in this world than that?

Thanks for sharing Sandie! This is a huge need in the world today! I think a lot of us would be more comfortable being campfires, but the need to shine brighter and farther is huge!!!
