The Glory of God
The Glory of God: Life's purpose, His plan, Our everything.
My prayer has been, "God, make your glory to come down on me! I want Your presence to be real in my life!"
Several mornings ago, God showed me a prayer of Asaph, which he repeated three times in Psalm 80: "Turn us again to Yourself, O God. Make Your face shine down on us. Only then will we be saved." (Vs. 3,7,19)
"Turn us again to Yourself..." Sometimes we are too weak to turn ourselves to Him. Might we ask Him to turn us to Him? Don't you think it will be a prayer He will answer? Are you "willing to be made willing"?
"...Make Your face shine down on us..." To me, this meant, "Oh, God, cause Your glory become so real in my life so that others will see Your glory!" Yes, even when we feel too weak to turn ourselves to Him, He can still reveal His glory to us and through us, if we but ask.
"...Only then will we be saved." Saved from what? Yes, as Christians we are already saved from death and hell. But let me tell you, there are often times when we need our souls to be saved from emotional turmoil in this life. He said for us to let His peace rule in our hearts. How can we do that if we are too weak to stop worrying? "...Only then..." Only when God's glory becomes real in our lives will His peace rule in our hearts! Only then will our emotions be at ease in spite of life's pressures. Only then will we see good in every circumstance and rejoice!
Another couple of very exciting statements jumped out to me the next day: "Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty.... All He does is just and good..." -Psalm 111: 3,7
If God were to reveal His glory to us and start working through us, do you realize what that could mean? If everything He does reveals His glory and majesty, then our lives would simply be like a magnifying glass, making God's glory shine brightly into this dark world!
Do you want to be a part of something that amazing? Then start praying the prayer of Psalm 80. Ask Him to make His glory known in you, to you, and through you. It will add a whole new purpose to your life!
....And believe me, He never ceases to answer prayer when it is according to His word.
