What Really Matters?
Your life is only a brief moment. Blink, and it's gone.
Some live all of their lives for themselves, knowing it is for themselves, and then the end comes and they realize it is all over. They missed the point.
Some live their whole lives for themselves, and think they are living for God, but in reality they do things that appear outwardly good, but inwardly, they want glory, fame, respect -you name it. Then the end comes, and they are just as disappointed as the ones who knew they were living for themselves. They, too, missed the point.
Then there are a select few who find what really matters and run with it. They give their whole lives to God and live sold out for Him. They find what really matters to God and what matters to God begins to really matter to them too, and it affects their whole life. When the end comes for them, they are not disappointed, because they didn't miss the point! The question is...

What really matters?
"For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return." -Philippians 1:10
Think about it. If you were to take the day off and go visit God in heaven and look at all of life from His perspective, what would you see? You wouldn't see all the famous people that live glamorous lives and think that you were made to be like them. You wouldn't see people barely making it through life and think you were made to live like them, either. You wouldn't notice those who are presidents, kings and queens, and think, "that is God's goal for His children."
I believe that God's heart for us is bigger than all of that. His heart from the beginning was not to make His children successful in the world's eyes, or degraded in the world's eyes. His heart was to make us to become like Jesus!
Since the beginning, He sought through all the existence of men and women to reconcile them to Himself. First of all, you, dear Christian, are to have that sweet, close, love-relationship with Him. And then, we are to go out into the world and help them find out how to be reconciled to and know God!
So stop wasting your life, dear Christian on the things that the world deems important! "Do not love the world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world." -1 John 2:15-16
When you love (a love that won't let go) the world, you do not understand! God's love is so much better! His plan is so much greater! He's got so much more in mind for you than you've got planned! He did not create you so that you can be like the world. He created you to be like His Son, Jesus!
So, question.... When you stand before God one day, what do you want Him to say?
"My child, you did a lot in your life, but you missed the point. I had something far greater in mind for you. Yes, you did many things 'in My name', but you really did not do them for Me or by My power."
Or....
"My child, in your life, I could see my Son Jesus living through you! I could hear His voice when you spoke, I could see His actions in what you did, I could see His smile on your face.... Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Live for Jesus, dear child of God, and you will hear those words you so dearly long to hear!
