I have a God who....

  • Is a Shield around me. (Ps. 3:3)
  • Is my glory- covers my shame. (Ps. 3:3)
  • Holds my head high. (Ps. 3:3)
  • Watches over me. (Ps. 3:5)
  • Sets me apart for Himself. (Ps. 4:3)
  • Answers when I call. (Ps. 4:3)
  • Blesses me and surrounds me with a shield of love. (Ps. 5:12)
  • Looks deep within my mind and heart. (Ps. 7:9)
  • Does not abandon me when I search for Him. (Ps. 9:10)
  • Watches me closely and examines me. (Ps. 11:4)
  • Shows His face to the virtuous. (Ps. 11:7)
  • Makes pure promises. (Ps. 12:6)
  • Is with me when I obey Him -Does not abandon me to do His work alone. (Ps. 14:5)
  • Protects me -I am His! (Ps. 14:6)
  • Is always with me; is always right beside me. (Ps. 16:8)
  • Satisfies me with His presence. (Ps. 17:14-15)
  • Supports me. (Ps. 18:18)
  • Rescues me when I'm humble. (Ps. 18:27)
  • Gives enough strength to crush an army and scale any wall. (Ps. 18:29)
  • Proves His promises true. (Ps. 18:30)
  • Is a shield for those who seek His protection. (Ps. 18:30)
  • Makes my way perfect. (Ps. 18:32) 
  • Gives me His shield of victory, supports me with His right hand, makes me great with His help. (Ps. 18:35)
  • Make clear commands. (Ps. 19:8)
  • Gives me my heart's desire and does not withold my requests from me. (Ps. 21:2)
  • Keeps me from stumbling with His unfailing love. (Ps 21:7)
  • Is enthroned on my praises. (Ps. 22:3)
  • Gives joy to those who seek Him. (Ps. 22:26)
  • Gives me all I need. (Ps. 23:1)
  • Is my Shepherd. (Ps. 23:1)
  • Pursues me with His goodness and unfailing love. (Ps. 23:6)
  • Doesn't let those who trust Him be disgraced. (Ps. 25:3)
  • Leads and teaches me by His truth. (Ps. 25:5)
  • Is good and does what is right. (Ps. 25:8)
  • Shows the proper path to those who go astray. (Ps. 25:8)
  • Leads the humble in doing right, teaching them His way. (Ps. 25:9)
  • He leads me in unfailing love and faithfulness. (Ps. 25:10)
  • He shows those who fear Him the path they should choose. (Ps. 25:12)
  • Is a friend to those who fear Him. (Ps. 25:14)
  • Rescues me from the traps of my enemies. (Ps. 25:15)

  • Is myy light and salvation, my fortress. Protects me from danger. (Ps. 27:1)
  • Makes my enemies stumble and fall. (Ps. 27:2)
  • Takes away my fear and gives me confidence. (Ps. 27:3)
  • Conceals me when troubles come; He hides me in His sanctuary. He places me out of the reach of my enemies. (Ps. 27:5)
  • Invites me to come and talk with Him. (Ps. 27:8)
  • Holds me close. (Ps. 27:8)
  • Teaches me how to live; leads me in the right path. (Ps. 27:11)
  • Listens to my prayers for mercy. (Ps 28:2)
  • Hears my cry for mercy. (Ps 28:3)
  • Is my strength and shield. (Ps. 28:7)
  • Helps me and fills my heart with joy. (Ps. 28:7)
  • Gives me strength. (Ps. 28:8)
  • Is my safe fortress. (Ps. 28:8)
  • Saves His people and blesses them. (Ps. 28:9)
  • Carries His people in His arms forever. (Ps. 28:9)

  • Causs His voice to echo over the sea. (Ps. 29:3)
  • Thunders over the mighty sea. (Ps. 29:3)
  • Speaks with a powerful voice. (Ps. 29:4)
  • Speaks with a majestic voice. (Ps. 29:4)
  • Speaks, causing mighty cedars to split open and shatters them with His voice. (Ps. 29:5)
  • Makes mountains skip and leap. (Ps. 29:6)

When my emotions are out of control...

Often in the shadows I sit, surrounded by piles and piles of emotions that hold my attention and overwhelm me. Often they arrive in a sandstorm of confusion, walling me in and leaving me full of fear.  They're dirty emotions. Many of them don't make any sense to me. And the more I try to bring order to the piles around me, the more of a mess it all becomes.  One addition to my piles of emotions came through a friend who didn't fulfill my expectations. The one before that came through a sibling who hurt me. Another whirlwind arrived in the form of broken dreams. And yet another came in the quiet of my bedroom, looking in the mirror at a failure -myself- a girl who could never be good enough; a girl who'd never measure up.

He gives MORE grace

Seasons of great need - how easily we shun them like the plague.   The past several weeks have been drenched in many challenges and needs for me and my family.  Need that has had me crying out to God, “how long?”  I beg him for a time limit, some light at the end of the tunnel, but when I look for it, I just see more tunnel.  What is the purpose of a season like this?  This is the question I have found myself asking God on a near daily basis.  I won’t say I’ve found out the fullness of the answer yet, but pressing the question so much has yielded some light for me.  After all, He promises that those who seek will find.  And one thing He keeps pressing into my soul is this:  My need is my opportunity to test the limits I think God has on the amount of grace He will give me.  And oh, if I could recount to you all the ways He has already poured so much grace, you would think me a spoiled daughter of the King.  But if you saw how each day, I awaken to fresh new needs that have me stumbling

Living out of His pleasure

The sun was shining in the window as I held our newest little blessing in my lap and fed her a bottle.  I could hear my two-year-old crying in her crib, while my three-year-old softly tried to talk sense to her from her bed across the room. (It's hilarious to overhear, but that's a whole other topic.) I looked up at the clock and my heart sank.  "Late again," I thought. "Poor girls... When will I get the timing of the morning down? No wonder Avi is so upset."  As usual, I felt like kicking myself.
